MasterTemplate for ArchiCAD 12 - Now Available!

Bobrow Consulting Group is pleased to announce the release of ArchiCAD MasterTemplate 12, now fully updated for compatibility with ArchiCAD 12 USA and International versions.

Revisions include modifications of composite walls for use with the new Partial Structure Display; inclusion of some views and examples of 3D Documentation; addition of Curtain Wall components into the Interactive Legends of Visual Favorites; adjustments for compatibility with the new ArchiCAD 12 Library; and miscellaneous fine-tuning. Both USA and INT versions have been prepared for simultaneous release.

BCG Announces ArchiCAD MasterTemplate International Version

Bobrow Consulting Group announces the release of the international version of ArchiCAD MasterTemplate (AMT). This version of AMT has been reworked to use the international ArchiCAD Library, standard attributes from the Graphisoft international template (pensets, fills, materials, etc.), and metric standards for building components, drawing scales and layout sizes.

ArchiCAD MasterTemplate Reaches a Milestone

We reached a significant milestone this past week with the 100th license of AMT sold. I'm delighted with the continuing and growing interest in our product, which is about to extend its reach around the world as we prepare an international metric version. We've already had purchases from all parts of the U.S. as well as a few from Australia, South Africa, the Caribbean and Europe.

I'd like to ask your help in two ways.

You can change the Roof Slant Units from degrees to percentage with the Pull-out menu to the right , within the Roof Selection Settings.

Tip of the Day - 9/8/2008

To create a Barrel roof please see Archicad Help?: Virtual Building : Construction Elements : Roofs : Create a Barrel-Vaulted Roof. The number of segments created is determined by Options > Magic Wand Settings (so for eg. setting "segments along arcs" to 20 will create 20 segments to describe the roof.

If you want to turn off the roof pivot lines then go to View menu>On-Screen View Options>Click on Roof Pivot Lines.? Note the Roof Pivot lines don't print anyway, this is just an on-screen clarity option.

Tip of the Day - 9/4/2008

If you are trying to print a reduced A1 at exactly A3, i.e. 50%.? You need to Print rather than Publish.? Be in the Layout Book, select the Layouts that you wish to print, go to File > Print in the new dialog set the Source to Selected Layouts in Navigator, select your Printer (probably a PDF printer) set your paper size (A3) and set your Size to Custom and say to use 50%.? The resulting PDF's will be A3 and recipients of these files can print at 100% to their A3 printers.

Tip of the Day - 9/2/2008
If you use a Workstation Graphics card in your computer (I.e. an nVidia Quadro or AMD FireGL), we highly recommend that you use the ArchiCAD certified driver version with it. To check which driver version has been certified by Graphisoft, lookup your card in the table here:

Tip of the Day - 9/1/2008

When placing an object you have the ability to control its visibility on different Stories.? Within the objects?Settings, go to Floor Plan?and Section > FLOOR PLAN DISPLAY > Show on Stories, use the pullout menu to the right and choose the desired story visibility.

If you are using a wide screen monitor, menu items may be falling off the bottom of your screen. Use the down arrow to access these additional items.? The Help Menu and Cadimage Tools Window types are typical culprits.

Tip of the Day - 8/28/2008

You can get ArchiCAD to interrogate your printer/plotter to find out what its minimium margins are.? Open the Settings of your Master Layout, use the pulldown menu next to your specified sheet size and select either ?Import settings from Printer or Import settings from Plotter.? This will display your minimium margins in the boxes to the right.? Be carefull though if you out-source your printing and plotting, as their margins may be different to yours and you may get scaling issues.

Tip of the Day - 8/27/2008

By default the Dimension Tool is set to dimension only the Core of a composite wall.? You can change this by entering the Dimension Settings, go to Dimension Details and un-tick Dimension only the Core.
