Working on a remodel and I'm using the two different files as suggested by the master template setup. When I'm saving the EXISTING.pln to hotlink it to the REMODEL.pln, do I save it as a .mod, or as a regular .pln? I've read in the master template manual that you save it as a module and import it that way - but then I just read in an article that you save it as a .pln. Is there much of a difference? They both seem to hotlink correctly. |

KT - Both methods work, but there are some differences. The PLN brings in all of the information from the as-built, while the MOD file method allows you to pick and choose what you want to include. We have a preset layer combination for creating the MOD file which turns off certain things (like the section and elevation markers). You can invoke that layer combination (it's something like MODEL | BUILDING MODULE FOR EXPORT) then use a heavy (multi-story) marquee to enclose the building, and then create the HLM (use the File menu > External Content > Save Selection as Module). In that dialog box, be sure to uncheck the box to turn the selection into an instance of the module.
